Nicholas Braswell has spent his entire legal career fighting for the rights and freedoms of the people of the Commonwealth of Virginia. As an experienced litigator in over 100 trials, he is poised, prepared, and willing to fight for his clients.
Nicholas has built a reputation as a well-respected, zealous and tenacious trial attorney who practices in Circuit and General District Courts including Juvenile, Domestic Relations, and Traffic. He has over 5 years of experience in the criminal sector handling matters including but not limited to traffic, crimes of violence, sex, property, and narcotics.
Nicholas understands that a strong attorney-client relationship is ideal in order to provide his clients with the best representation. Nicholas maintains consistent communication with his clients knowing every client is different and requires personal attention to their individual needs. He feels that the most important individual is his client and he embodies this both in and out of the courtroom.
Nicholas’ passion for criminal defense began as an intern in the Public Defender’s Office for the City of Richmond. He spent two years as an intern while attending law school, one year as an investigator, and three and half years as an Attorney earning the title of Supervising Assistant Public Defender. During his time there he appeared in front of both judges and juries finding success on both fronts. He not only tried cases, but drafted and filed briefs, argued motions, negotiated favorable pleas for alternative sentencing, and supervised less experienced attorneys providing guidance and instruction.
Nicholas graduated Cum Laude from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro, North Carolina where he majored in Political Science. He received his Juris Doctor from the University Of Richmond School Of Law. As a law student, he served as President of the Black Student Association and was a member of both the Trial Advocacy and Client Counseling/Negotiations Boards.
Nicholas is licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia and is both Felony and Juvenile Certified. His practice is focused in Henrico, Hanover, Chesterfield, Colonial Heights, Petersburg, Richmond and the surrounding counties.
